mLearn Browser Extension
Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Firefox compatible. Built from the mLearn source.
What it does
- Syncs subtitles from streaming sites into the mLearn overlay window
- Watch Together — sync playback with friends (even without the app installed)
- Headless Mode — subtitle overlay without the mLearn desktop app running
- Click any word for instant lookup (requires mLearn desktop app)
- Open mLearn overlay directly from the extension popup
How to install
Download and unzip
Click the download button above to get mlearn-extension-v1.0.1.zip. Unzip the file anywhere on your computer — the extension folder is named dist inside the archive.
Open your browser's extension page
Navigate to your browser's extension management page:
Chrome / Brave / Edge: Go to chrome://extensions (or brave://extensions / edge://extensions) in the address bar.
Firefox: Go to about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox.
Enable Developer Mode
Chrome / Brave / Edge: Toggle "Developer mode" on (top-right corner).
Firefox: No developer mode needed — just click "Load Temporary Add-on".
Load the extension
Chrome / Brave / Edge: Click "Load unpacked" and select the dist folder (the one you unzipped).
Firefox: Click "Load Temporary Add-on" and select manifest.json inside the dist folder.
Using the extension
Click the mLearn icon in your toolbar to open the popup. It will try to connect to the mLearn desktop app automatically.
With the mLearn app running: Subtitles from streaming sites are piped directly into the overlay. Click any word for an instant definition.
Without the app (Headless Mode): Enable "Headless Mode" in the extension popup. You can load subtitle files manually and use Watch Together without the desktop app.
